Hazel Tucker
CARROLLTON -- Hazel (Waltrip) Tucker, 91, formerly of rural Greenfield, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Born Feb. 13, 1910, in rural Greenfield in Wrights Township, she was a daughter of Fred and Sally (Hefner) Waltrip.
She married Jake Tucker Nov. 1, 1930, in Edwardsville. He died March 13, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Jody Tucker Barnard of White Hall; two grandsons and spouses, Eric and Jane Tucker of rural Carrollton and Aaron and Stephanie Tucker of rural Greenfield; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Tucker; a sister, Minnie Tucker; and two brothers, Paul and Luke Waltrip.
She was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Wrights, where she served as organist for many years, the Jacktown Jills and Birthday Club, the Berdan Community Club, the Carrollton American Legion Auxiliary and the Greene County Farm Bureau.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Shields Memorial Home in Greenfield, where services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bill Martin will officiate.
Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Wrights.
Memorials are suggested to Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Wrights.
