Mrs. H. J. Ellison Dies Unexpectedly Rites Held Sunday
Mrs. Harvey J. Ellison (Maud Rebecca), 84-year-old long time resident of the Carrollton area, died unexpectedly at 7:20 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Cedar Knoll Nursing Home in Greenfield, where she had resided the past 1 1/2 years.
Born November 26, 1883 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late John Miller Lee and Katherine Campbell Lee. She was married to Harvey J. Ellison, and he preceded her in death February 4, 1955.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are two daughters and three sons: Mrs. William P. (Mildred) Voiles of Eldred, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Little of Roxana, Elmer Ellison of Carrollton, Major Ellison of Bluffs, and Harvey J. (Jay) Ellison of Belleville. Three children preceded their mother in death. There are nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Jasper H. Brown, minister of the Jehovah's Witnesses congregation in Wood River officiated at the funeral services held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Hires Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Lawrence Thien of Carrollton was the organist.
Casketbearers were Harvey Haddock of Carrollton, Fred Barnett of Bluffs, Sam Camerer, Harlin Helton and William Lee Voiles of Eldred, and Robert Little, Jr. of Wood River. Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery, north of Carrollton.
