Gazette-Patriot, Carrollton, Ill., Thursday, August 28, 2003 - From an article about
the "Greene County Days" activities: It is believed that land for this cemetery was donated
by the Hopper family, and that a Mrs. (Susan Barnard) Joshua Hopper left money in her estate to put a fence
(foundation) around it. The cemetery no longer exists as such, but some of the surnames of those buried
there include Barrow, Hopper & Reynolds."
From research information submitted by Marion Hopper: "Mrs. Joshua (Susan) Hopper had a foundation built, and it was paid for during her probate settlement. This foundation was found by Rance C. Hopper & Marion Hopper in an investigation of the cemetery in Sept. 1992.
Two tombstones, one for Louise & Nancy Reynolds and one for Mary Ellen Barrow, were present in 1991 & 1992. Levi Barrow was the son of John & Nancy Davenport Barrow and Nancy & Sophrano Hopper
were daughters of Joshua & Sally Shepherd Hopper."
