Mary L. Pruitt

Mary L. Pruitt, 85, of Eldred, died early Friday morning, Oct. 19, 2001 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.

She was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Walkerville, the daughter of John and Mabel Willis Dale. She married Ishmael R. Pruitt Jan. 5, 1933, in Carrollton, and he preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1996.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dick (Ruth Ann) Hansen of Ellisville; two sons, Bob (wife, Joan) Pruitt of Eldred and Dick (wife, Marlene) Pruitt of Loveland, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; three half-brothers, Leon Pfleger of Eldred, Dale Pfleger of Alton and Gary Pfleger of Carrollton; one half-sister, Margaret Gansz of White Hall; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one infant sister, Ruth Eileen Dale; and five brothers, John in infancy, Clarence, James, Howard and George Dale.

Mrs. Pruitt was owner and operator of Pruitt's Red and White Grocery in Eldred for 18 years. She also worked for several local businessmen. She attended the Eldred Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation will be held from noon until time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Eldred Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Eldred Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
