GREENE PRAIRIE PRESS, CARROLLTON, IL., WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4 2003

R. Eugene "Measles" Smith, 74, of rural Roodhouse, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

He was born Oct. 14, 1928 in rural Roodhouse, the son of Donald and Eleta March Smith. He married Marie Nevius Nov. 29, 1952 in Arkansas and she survives.

He is also survived by one son, Marty, (wife, Melissa) of rural Roodhouse and two granddaughters, Mandie and newborn, Madisyn.

Mr. Smith was a lifelong farmer in the Roodhouse area and for many years he sold seed corn. He took great pride in everything that he did.

He was a member of Richwoods Baptist Church, AMFM Lodge #80 in White Hall, Springfield Consistory and Ansar Shrine.

Graveside services were held Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. at Williams-Edwards Cemetery west of Barrow. Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse.

Memorials are suggested to Boyd Hospital, Williams-Edwards Cemetery or the donor's choice.
