Page 257DR. C. D. BUFFINGTON was born in Jersey county, Illinois, in 1846. His father came from Pennsylvania while yet a young man; he is a physician, and now one of the oldest in Jersey county. Our subject being a natural student, and of an investigating mind, gave his early attention to the loved and honored profession of his father's choice. To enlarge his field of observation, he read medicine under the direction of Drs. Duhadway and Lyon, of Jerseyville, afterward practicing with them until he located at Shaw's Point township, in 1869. Although a young man, he soon had a lucrative and extensive practice. The doctor certainly deserves the esteem in which he is held by the community as a physician. November 29th, 1875, he married Miss Jennie Masters, the daughter of John B. Masters, whose biography is also given in this history. She is a most amiable lady and an excellent housekeeper, possessing he qualities which make home attractive.
