Barbara J. Hood, 73, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Piasa to Clarence and Nancy (Smith) Emmons.
She married Charles C. Hood on Jan. 15, 1956, in Hernando, Miss. He survives.
She was a member of the Paradise Baptist Church in rural Jerseyville for over 30 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Barb Hood of Brighton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Laura and Earl Moffitt of Modesto, Ill., and Brenda Chance of Carlinville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mary Lou Scherer of Sandwich, Ill., Shirley Jacobsen of Aurora, Ill., Thelma Goon and Linda Hood, both of Brighton, Delores Malloy of Jerseyville and Margaret Haycraft of Banning, Calif.; and four brothers, Donald Emmons Sr. of Chesterfield, Clarence Emmons Jr. of Elburn, Ill., Frederick "Eugene" Zimmer of St. Johns, Mo., and Paul Zimmer of Springfield, Mo.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Targhetta and Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton, where the Rev. Ray Robinson will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be at Asbury Cemetery in Brighton.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or Saint Anthony's Hospice.
