NIFONG CEMETERY
Macoupin County, Illinois
Nifong Cemetery is located 2 1/4 miles west and 1 mile north of Modesto, Illinois.The cemetery is located beside a main road. This cemetery is being kept by relatives and is in fairly good condition. Very recently a drove of hogs had rooted about the stones, but otherwise the stones were in good shape. It is doubtful that anyone else will be buried here, and in the future we can foresee that it will be neglected. J.F. Nifong donated the burial ground in the early 1800's but it was not until 1887 when a deed was drawn up. The oldest grave was infant John W. Nifong who died in 1830.
