MODESTO EARLY SETTLER DEAD
Elijah Steal, aged 75, pioneer of the state and an early resident of Modesto, died at 12:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. He
had been ill for several months and had suffered intense pain.
Mr. Steal leaves a large estate of land and much personal property. He lived alone and died a bachelor.
