This family burial plot is located in North Otter Township, Sec. 20. Only two burials are known to be there. It was located on Crump land in later years, as Elizabeth STEWART, granddaughter of Charles & Charity, married William CRUMP. Charles and Charity have two known children: Rev. John Stewart, who is buried in Union Chapel Cemetery, N. Otter Twp. and Charles Stewart. There is a probate for Charles (Sr.) in Macoupin Courthouse that names John and Charles as administrators of his estate.

Charity's maiden name was presumed to be CRUMP because of the land ownership, but later research has determined that Charity was a daughter of Edward RICHARDS and Elizabeth STEWART.

See photo and article which was taken from the IL State Journal in Oct. 1971.

Charles Stewart, Revolutionary War born 1738; died 1833 at the age of 73 years.

Charity Stewart, died 1838, age 75 years

The birth date of 1738 doesn't agree with the death age, he died age 73 so born ca 1760 which fits into the family research, but has not been documented. I hope to view the stone this summer and get a photo. If anyone can contribute more info on Charles Stewart, please contact me.
