Hornback Cemetery Field road off Rte. 123
Directions: From the junction of Rte. 97 & Rte. 123 in Petersburg, turn
East on to Rte. 123 and go for a total of 4.2 miles. You will go
over the Sangamon River and will pass Nolting Road. When you see
Nolting Road, you will continue on Rte. 123 for another 0.8 miles to a field
road that is bordered on the East by telephone poles. This road is on the
straightaway on Rte. 123 - totally flat ground. Turn South on the field road,
which is dirt and follow it back 0.8 miles. You will see a road go off to the
right and a house to the right. Don't turn, but continue on the field road which
turns into grass instead of dirt at that point. The road to the right is
actually Nolting Road which has curved around to meet this field road. You
can also get there by going all the way to the end of Nolting Road and turning right on to the
grassy pathway. If you come off Rte. 29 and turn West on Rte. 123 you will go 2.6
miles to the field road on the south side of the road. From this direction,
the field road is past Lebanon road 0.3 miles. Whichever way you get to the
grassy pathway, follow it around the little curve and you will see a very pretty little
cemetery. The cemetery is fenced, has a big orange gate and also has a flag pole. It is
very well maintained.

in Menard County) for sharing her pictures and the directions. Without her help, we might never have
found this cemetery. The pictures enabled Betty Albert and me to find the cemetery - proof
that a picture is worth a thousand words.
