MRS. LILLY F. BEARD IS DEAD
Death Occurred Monday At Home Of Son Near Rochester; Funeral Wednesday.
Mrs. Lilly Frances Beard, widow of the late Hiram A. Beard and a lifelong resident of Menard county, died Monday October 14, at the home of her son, Leon L. Beard near Rochester, in Sangamon county, at the age of almost sixty-eight years. Mrs. Beard had been ill at her son's home for three weeks preceding her death, having been taken ill while there for a visit.
Mrs. Beard whose name before her marriage was Simons, was born in Petersburg on January 4, 1862, and spent her whole life in this community. She was married to Hiram A. Beard and to them was born one son who survives. Mr. Beard preceded her in death a number of years.
Mrs. Beard is survived by the one son, a sister, Mrs. Hattie Briscoe of Springfield and a number of other relatives.
The remains were brought to this city, to the Thompson & Harms undertaking establishment, and funeral services were held from her late residence west of this city Wednesday afternoon, October 16, conducted by Rev. W.M. Groves. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
The following men were pallbearers; Leslie J. Greene, George Stahl, Clarence C. Stier, Harry R. Smedley, Evans G. Watkins and George Neimeier.
