Vernon W. Brakebill of Lincoln died Tuesday, January 8 at 9:40 a.m. at Lincoln Land Nursing Home in Lincoln at the age of 69 years. He was born March 6, 1921 in Athens, the son of Robert and Flora Ferguson Brakebill. Mr. Brakebill was a retired farmer. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Rena Peters of Ottawa; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 10 at Mott and Henning Funeral Home, Athens, with Rev. Don Neisler officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg.


BRAKEBILL, EURAL L.

Eural L. Brakebill of Lincoln, formerly of Athens, died at Countryside Health Care Center, Lincoln at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 28. He was 64 years old. Mr. Brakebill was born March 27, 1922 at Athens, the son of Robert B. and Flora Bell Ferguson Brakebill. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Velma McDaniel and Mary Pearl Perry of Lincoln; one brother and two half-brothers. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Rena Peters of Ottawa; one brother Vernon Brakebill of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 31 at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg with Rev. David Glahn, officiating. Mott and Henning Funeral home of Athens was in charge of arrangements.

J. Otha McDaniel Sr., 72 of R.R. 3, Lincoln, formerly of Easton, died at 10:10 am. Saturday at Lincolnland Nursing Home in L incoln. He was preceded in death by three sons, two daughters and one brother. Surviving are his wife, Velma; one son, John Jr. of Somerset, Pa.; four daughters, Mrs. Harld (Donna) Henrichameyer of R. R. 3, Lincoln, Mrs. Robert (Louise) Todd of Springfield, Mrs. Dale (Nadine) Phelps of Covington, Ind.; Mrs. Steve (Mary) Sears of Plainfield, Ind.; three brothers, Ray of Petersburg, Edward and Roy, both of Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Theilen of Mason City and Mrs. Zetha Collins of Beardstown; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mott and Henning Funeral Home, Athens and burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg.

Mrs. Velma M. McDaniel, 68, of Lincoln, formerly of Easton, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on April 8, 1917, near Athens, the daughter of Robert and Flora Ferguson Brakebill. She married John Otha McDaniel, and he died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by two daughters and three sons. Surviving are two sons, John Jr. of Somerset, Pa., and Ronald of Plainfield, Ind.; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Donna) Henrichsmeyer of Lincoln, Mrs. Robert (Louise) Todd of Springfield, Mrs. Dale (Nadine) Phelps of Covington, Ind., and Mrs. Steve (Mary) Sears of Plainfield, Ind.; two brothers Vernon and Eural Brakebill, both of Lincoln; one sister Rena Peters of Ottawa; 24 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mott and Henning Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Dennis Eldridge officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg.

Lee Roy McDaniel is dead at 35

Lee Roy McDaniel of R. R. 1, Easton died at 7:45 Saturday morning, Nov 1 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Mr. McDaniel, who was 35 years old at the time of his death, was born August 18, 1940 near Williamsville, the son of Otha and Velma Brakebill McDaniel. He is survived by one son, Lee Roy McDaniel, Jr. of Teheran; three brothers, John of Lincoln, Robert of Clinton and Ronald of Eston; four sisters, Mrs. Donna Henrichsmeyer, Lincoln, Mrs. Louise Todd, Springfield, Mrs. Nadine Phelps, Covington, Ind., and Mrs. Mary Todd, Easton; several nieces and nephews and cousins. The body was taken to the Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg, where services were held at 1:30 Tuesday afternon, Nov. 4, Rev William Hudspeth officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg.


HELLE, BETTY LOU MCDANIEL

Mrs. Betty Lou Helle, 31, of Cuba died at 2 a.m. Wednesday in Cuba. Born in 1938 at Williamsville, she had resided in Cuba for the past six months. She was preceded in death by a son and a brother. She is survived by her parents, Otha and Velma McDaniel of Easton; two daughters, Catherine and Lueann, both at home; three sons, Kenny Ray, Brian and James, all at home; four brothers, John McDaniel of Stoystown, Pa., Robert McDaniel of Lake Fork, LeRoy McDaniel of Springfield, Ronald Allen McDaniel of Easton; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Todd of Springfield, Miss Mary Frances McDanil of Easton, Mrs. Donna Henrichsmeyer of Lincoln, Mrs. Nadine Phelps of Easton. Satorius Funeral Home at Petersburg is in charge of arrangements.

PETERSBURG - Mary Rule Wickline, 88, of Petersburg died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at Memorial Medical Ceneter. She was born Jan. 3, 1917 in Greenview, the daughter of August H. and Emelie Lucht Winkelmann. She married Richard "Lit" Rule in 1936; he died in 1982. She later married Eldon Wickline in 1988; he died in 1995. Mrs. Wickline graduated from Petersburg Harris High School in 1934. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Petersburg and Petersburg Women’s Club. Survivors; daughter Penny (husband, Brent) McArdle of Lexington; three grandsons; and two great grandchildren. Services; 2 p.m. today, St. Paul’s Church, Petersburg, the Revs Phillip McArdle, Dan Rosenberry and Ed Maddox officiating. Burial; Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is in charge of arrangements.
