FORDYCE, ELVA MYRTLE NORRIS KARES

Last rites for Mrs. Elva Myrtle Norris Fordyce, former Pekin resident who died Friday afternoon in the Moline hospital, were held this afternoon at the chapel of the Kuecks Funeral Home.

Rev. Mr. Dick of the Free Methodist Church was in charge of the rites. Interment was in Lakeside cemetery.

Her maiden name was Elva Norris, the daughter of Albert and Mary Turner Norris. She was born in Petersburg on Jan. 5, 1901. She married Tony Kares, who was killed in the explosion at the Corn Products. Later she married James Fordyce, who survives.

She is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Harlan Norris, East Peoria; Kenneth Norris, Pekin; Ralph Norris, Pekin; James Norris, Pekin. The following children survive: George, Ctherine, Helen and Mary Kares; Jane, Myrtle and Shirley Mae Fordyce.

Note: This obituary does not mention any children who preceded Elva in death. However, in the obituary of daughter Catherine, Catherine was preceded by one half sister and four half brothers.
