Mrs. Harriet J. Smith, 75, former resident of Woodson, died at the Illinois Christian Home at 7:30 a.m. Monday. She was the widow of Harry F. Smith.

Mrs. Smith was born in Murrayville, November 13, 1888. She was the daughter of Edward and Sarah Wilds Gallagher. She married Harry Smith on September 12, 1907 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1947.

Surviving are the following children: Roy E. of Rushville. H. Edward of Jacksonville, Marion E. of Chicago, Sarah Irene Sands of Norfolk, Virginia, Harriet Evelyn Talkington of McLeansboro, and Harry R. of Jacksonville.

Five sisters also survive: Mrs. Emma Self, Jacksonville, Mrs. Mae McCurley, Woodson, Mrs. Ione Thompson, Jacksonville, Mrs. Ruth Bishop, Pontiac and Mrs. Margaret Grande, Pittsburg, Kansas.

There are seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dr. Edward Gallagher, Meda Goacher and Kate Wellborn, brother and sisters, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Woodson Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held at the Williamson Funeral Home at Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. William Sturguss in charge. Burial will be Asbury Cemetery. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 7:30-9 p.m. Tuesday evening.
