George Farmer, 88, dies Monday evening

George Farmer, 88, formerly of R.R.1., Ashland died at 8:37 p.m. Monday, April 10, at the Modern Care Convalescent Facility in Jacksonville.

He was born Oct. 22, 1900 in Morgan County, a son of John and Ida Moss Farmer.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Farmer was a retired farmer and a member of the Berea Christian church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home, with burial in Berea Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the family to meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Berea Christian Church.
