This active and well maintained cemetery, associated with Our Saviour's Catholic Church in Jacksonville, is located just to the north and right next to Diamond Grove Cemetery in the city of Jacksonville. Very early catholic burials in Jacksonville were made in an old section of Jacksonville East Cemetery. The catholic burial section at Jacksonville East Cemetery is on the far southeast side of the cemetery and contains very few monuments today.
The original reading of this cemetery was completed from October 26 - October 29, 1982 by Mrs. Ruth Ann (Reiser) Stewart and Mrs. Sharon (Adcock) Stewart of Waverly, Illinois. Additional burials have been added after researching old death certificates, cemetery records and church records and from current obituaries printed in local newspapers.
If you have additions or corrections to made to the entries here or if you have tombstone photos you would like to have placed online to share, please email me and I'll make the necessary changes/additions.
Thanks to Cheryl Behrend & Jeanie Lowe for the photos shown above.
