DELPH, JESSE EDWARD

Jacksonville paper Jan 27, 1960

Jesse Edward Delph, section gang foreman for the Wabash railroad and a resident of Chapin, died at ten o'clock Wednesday morning at the Wabash Hospital in Decatur where he had been a patient 23 days.

Mr. Delph was born at Qunicy Feb. 24, 1895, the son of John and Ella Brambough Delph. He was united in marriage with Anna Smith Nov. 4, 1914 at Jacksonville.

Mrs. Delph survives with one daughter, Mrs. Orma Meier of Bluffs. There are two grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded Mr. Delph in death.

The deceased was a member of the Chapin Christian church and chairman of the church lay board and also a member of Concord AF and AM Lodge 346.

The body was taken to the Williamson funeral home. Arrangements will be announced.


DELPH, ANNA SMITH

Jacksonville Daily Journal April 29, 1977

Anna Delph, 79, Chapin, died Wednesday evening at Jacksonville Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Delph was born in Morgan County January 22, 1898, daughter of Benjamin and Martha Mallicoat Smith. She married Jesse Delph November 4, 1914 in Jacksonville, and he died in January of 1960.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Orma) Meier, Bluffs, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

She was a member of the Chapin Christian Church.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Chapin Christian Church with the pastor, Rev. Richard Stone, officiating. Interment will be in Chapin cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Chapin Christian Church. Visitation at Williamson Funeral Home anytime after 11 a.m. Friday with the family receiving 7 to 9 p.m. that evening.
