1927-2001

JACKSONVILLE
Gladys "Ruth" Wiebe, 74, of Springfield, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2001, at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Marshall, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth N. Eitel Hanley. She married Ralph Jacob Wiebe Nov. 20, 1965, at West Side Christian Church in Springfield, and he survives.

She is also survived by two step-daughters, Suzanne Wiebe-Byus and Judy (husband, Bill) Beckman, both of Jacksonville; five step-grandchidlren; 10 step-great-greatgrandchildren; one brother, John "Jack" Hanley of Zepher Hill, Fla.; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by one brother.

Mrs. Wiebe was the owner and operator of First Lady Beauty Salon for 30 years. She also worked at Myers Bros. Beauty Salon for 12 years. She retired in 1995. She was a member of the West Side Christian Church of Springfield and Springfield Cosmotologist Association and a former member of Jockey Club.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bisch Funeral Home West in Springfield, with burial held at a later date at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the SIU School of Medicine for Cancer Research or Memorial Medical Center 2E Oncology.
