Beardstown -- Marvin William Ommen, 81, of 517 Monroe St., Beardstown, died early Wednesday, June 16, 1993, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born Aug. 21, 1911, near Meredosia, the son of Jacob D. and Anna Russwinkel Ommen. He married Verna Fricke on Oct. 26, 1935.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Byron (wife Carolyn) Ommen of Carrollton; three daughters, Mrs. Robert E. (Wilma) Miller of Lincoln, Mrs. Dean (Lucille) Hannel of Jacksonville and Sharon Sullivan of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son and four brothers, Harry, Edwin, Alpha, and Andy.

Mr. Ommen was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Beardstown. He worked as a farmer for several years and then was employed by the State of Illinois Highway Department and the City of Beardstown.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, where the body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery near Chapin. Visitation was held Friday evening at the Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Radio Fund of to the charity of the donor's choice.
