HUGHES.
John T. Hughes, son of John A. and Elizabeth Webb Hughes, was born near Murrayville, Ill., July 21, 1838, and resided in that vicinity until about twenty one years ago when he moved to the vicinity of Waverly. He was married to Miss Nancy Hannah Story March 7, 1860. To this union was born five children. He was a member of the M.E. Church, South, at Waverly. He was stricken with paralysis about four years ago, from the effects of which he never recovered. His death occurred in the hospital at Jacksonville on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 1:15 p.m. He is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Chas. Hicks, Mrs. Wm. Adams of Franklin, Mrs. Joseph Burnett of Virden, and William and Robert of Waverly. Also A. B. Hughes, Mrs. A. J. Gunn and Mrs. Emily Dikis of Murrayville, and Robert and William Hughes of near Kansas City, brothers and sisters. One brother and two sisters preceded him.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Murrayville on Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Dr. W. F. Short of Jacksonville conducted the services. The interment was in the Gunn Cemetery beside his wife who preceded him twenty-seven years ago.
