Ruth A. Blankenship, 67, of Palmyra and formerly of Springfield, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Morgan County, the daughter of John Crit and Molly Golden Brooks Mosley. She married Charles Blankenship in 1958 in Elkhart, and he preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by a son, Norman "Tom" Walker of Thayer; two daughters, Beverly J. Walker, Janet M. Walker of Chatham; one stepson, Michael E. of Glenarm; two stepdaughters, Joanna Dodd of Springfield and Marilyn Jo Bitter of Maryland; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Beulah M. Kilmer of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blankenship was formerly employed by the Illinois State Police Academy at Lincoln Land Community College.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springfield with burial in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pisgah. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
