WOOD CEMETERY aka NOONAN CEMETERY

NE1/4 SE1/4, Section 10, Twp.15N, Range 11W

The name "Wood Cemetery" is given arbitrarily as no land record has been found pertaining to this burial ground, and the Wood tombstone appears to mark the earliest burial to be found here. The site is in a wooded area about 300 yards north of U.S. Route 67 and Illinois Rte. 104, on the west side of a country road, and south of Mauvaisterre Creek. It is situated northwest of Jacksonville. The tombstone inscriptions listed here were recorded a number of years ago by Walter R. Sanders of Litchfield and are used here through his courtesy.
