Dortha P. Hare

Dortha P. Hare, 85, of Jacksonville, formerly of rural Murrayville, died Tuesday afternoon, June 13, 1995, at Passavant Area Hospital.

She was born March 18, 1910, in Clarinda, Iowa, a daughter of Irvin Samuel and Gracie May Meyers Cain. She married Lloyd Hare on May 10, 1931, in Bloomington. He died Jan. 16, 1956.

She is survived by three sons, Jack (wife, Linda) Hare of Murrayville, Mike (wife, Rebecca) Hare of Greenfield and Isaac (wife, Diane) Cannon of Jerseyville; one daughter, Billie Jo Roberts of Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Cain of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Dan Cain of Gila Bend, Ariz.; and three sisters, Ruby Bridges, Hazel Brogdon and Mary Brady, all of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Carl; and two brothers, John Cain and Russell Cain.

Mrs. Hare was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Youngblood Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville, where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. today.
