"Dode" Jackson, 77, dies Sunday evening
Bruce Olen "Dode" Jackson, 77, of 1 N. Windrush, died 5:20 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
He was born Feb. 21, 1911, in Morgan Co., son of John H. and Sarah Hopper Jackson. He married Erma Gorham Aug. 8, 1949, in Jacksonville and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Bruce Jackson and James Brice Jackson, both of Canton; four daughters, Judy Jackson, Phyllis Jackson and Debra Sue Jackson, all of Jacksonville, and Kathy Jackson of Irving, Texas; three grandchildren, James John, Bryan and Sarah; a sister, Wilma Elliott of Woodson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Jackson was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Youngblood Baptist church.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Youngblood Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday; family to meet friends 7-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Nortonville Cemetery.
