Melvin L. Mansfield
Melvin L. Mansfield, 84, of Franklin, formerly of Modesto area, died Monday afternoon July 8, 1996, in Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born September 6, 1911, the son of Forrest F. and Maude Della (Reed) Mansfield. He and Velma Sims were married October 23, 1937, she preceded him in death on April 28, 1985. He later married Viva Dean Boatman on December 30, 1989, in Modesto. She survives.
Surviving with the wife, are daughters: Sharon Leetham of Chapin and Marsha (husband, Jeff) Dorr of Modesto; daughter-in-law Misti Mansfield of Modesto; step-daughters: Linda (husband John) Williams of Clifton, Va.; Mary (husband Don) Swain of Jacksonville; Teresa (husband Tom) Stevens of St. peters, Mo.; and Dana (husband Larry) Loyd of Alexander.
Also surviving are: brothers: Delbert of Pekin and Noel of Modesto. Sisters: Mildred Collins of Carlinville; Genevieve Lyerla of Carlinville; Twyla Lazenby of Litchfield and Violet Ludwig of Carlinville. Four grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keith, one brother in infancy and one sister in infancy.
Mr. Mansfield was a retired farmer and a longtime member of Borean Church of Christ in Modesto.
