John F. McLamar

John F. McLamar, 73, of Jacksonville, died at 12:02 a.m. Saturday at Passavant Area Hospital, Jacksonville.

He was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Murrayville, the son of Olin M. and Alma B. Fanning McLamar. He married Helen George in 1965 in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Merrill.

Mr. McLamar was a retired iron worker for American Bridge Company of U. S. Steel. He was a member of Westfair Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Dennis of Springfield; one granddaughter; and four sisters: Sylvia French, Martha Upchurch, and Betty Pruden, all of Jacksonville, and Mary Ruth Knapp of Meredosia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral home, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Larry Warren officiating. Burial will be in Youngblood Cemetery, Nortonville.
