Marie Neal, 78, of Waverly, died Friday evening, April 27, 2001, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

She was born July 2, 1922, in Alexander, the daughter of Benjamin and Kate Lash Childers.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty (husband, Darrell) Hauenstein of Arlington, Texas; one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (husband, William) Reynolds of Palmyra and Louise Ausmus of Chicago; one brother, Alfred Childers of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two grandsons; and one brother, Orville (surviving wife, Ruby of Richland, Ind.) Childers.

Mrs. Neal was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Youngblood Baptist Church in Nortonville, with burial at Youngblood Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic fibrosis Foundation. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
