Shown in this picture (left above) is the New Salem mill. The Rutledge and Cameron mills, of which Abraham Lincoln had charge at one time, stood on the same spot as the mill in the picture and had the same foundation. James Rutledge was the father of Ann Rutledge, whom Lincoln loved.
