
Evan W. Richie
PALMYRA - Evan W. Richie 85, of Palmyra, died early Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995, at County Care Center in Carlinville.
He was born March 8, 1910, in Palmyra, the son of Franklin H. and Daisie Alberta Ridgeway Richie. He married Marie A. Allen Oct. 18, 1928. She preceded him in death Nov. 17, 1995.
He is survived by one son, Harold E. Richie of East Peoria; one daughter, Delores R. McCaherty of East Peoria; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Sutherland.
Mr. Richie was a member of the Palmyra Baptist Church and the Carlinville Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, and a lifetime member of Palmyra Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Palmyra Lions Club, the Palmyra School Board, and the Palmyra Town Board.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Northwestern Rescue Squad or the Silver Strands Senior Group.
Marie A. Richie
PALMYRA - Marie A. Richie, 87, of Palmyra, died Friday night, Nov. 17, 1995, at Country Care in Carlinville.
She was born Nov. 13, 1908, in Sumner, the daughter of Hiram A. and Mabel Dedrick Allen. She married Evan W. Richie on Oct. 18, 1928. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Harold E. Richie of East Peoria; a daughter, Delores R. McCaherty of East Peoria; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Allen of Palmyra; two sisters, Emily Standefer of Hettick and Wilma Rynders of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Crawford, Laverna Franz and Laveta Allen.
Mrs. Richie clerked and kept books for Illini TV, which the family owned. She was a member of the Palmyra Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Carlinville Chapter #802 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois, and a past Grand Lecturer and District Representative.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services. Eastern Star services will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
