Robert Bruce Sattley, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce R. Sattley, of 1140 West Cerro Gordo Street, died at 2 p.m. Monday in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident near Rochester at 2 a.m. Sunday.
The young man was fatally injured when a car in which he was riding with a cousin, Floyd Smith of near Taylorville, ran into a motor truck standing on route 24 northwest of Rochester. The cousin was slightly injured. The driver of the truck disappeared with his machine immediately after the accident.Mr. Sattley this summer had been working on the farm of his Uncle, Harry Smith, near Taylorville. He and his cousin had passed Saturday evening at the State Fair at Springfield, and were returning to the Smith home when the accident occurred. Mr. Sattley perceived a concussion of the brain, but was conscious for a few minutes following the accident. Floyd Smith was cut and bruised, but his condition is not considered serious.
Born Near IlliopolisHe leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce R. Sattley, of Decatur; two sisters, Miss Priscilla and Miss Mary, and three brothers, Billy, Charles and Richard, at home. The body was brought to J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.
