Jacob Hohman passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Foster, of New Berlin, on his 85th birthday, Monday, November 26. He was born in Germany, November 26, 1860, and came to this country when he was sixteen years old.
In 1885 he was married to Hattie Behl, and to this union were born three children, Willie, who died in infancy, one daughter, Mrs. Christina Foster, and a son, John, both of New Berlin.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in New Berlin, Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 28, at 2:00 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. K. H. Hein, officiating. Mr. Hohman chose the text to be used at the service, timothy 4: 6-8.
Miss Doris Zimmerman, of Loami, sang "Abide With Me", and "Rock of Ages."
the pall bearers were Jim White, John and George Knepler, Lee burns, John Krais and Billy Brown.
those caring for the flowers were Anna Cudid of Chicago, Mrs. Carl Schnivring, Mrs. Claude Hart, Mrs. Wm. Rescho and Mrs. Helen Dunbar, of Springfield.
burial was in the Lutheran cemetery at New Berlin.
