
Eugene Upton Zellers and his wife, Minnie (Pitts) Zellers as well as their son, Edwin Forest Zellers and his wife, Emma Jane (Florence) Zellers were active members of the Antioch Christian Church.
Eugene Upton Zellers was the son of Elijah O. and Sarah Ann (Lindsay) Zellers. Minnie Pitts was the daughter of John W. Pitts and his wife, Jennie (Jane) (Whipp) Pitts.
Eugene Upton and Minnie (Pitts) Zellers had children:
Edwin Forest Zeller m. Florence Miller
Arthur Clinton Zeller m. Amanda Herrin
Ruth Zeller m. Joe Barnes
Edna Pearl Zeller died as an infant
Jane Whipp Pitts was the daughter of Wesley and Amanda (Alkire) Whipp. Amanda Alkire was the daughter of Leonard and Catherine (Davis) Alkire. Leonard Alkire was the son of Rev. John and Susan (Nation) Alkire. Leonard Alkire preached at the Antioch Church on a few occasions, at least.

Obit: Athens Free Press-November 1, 1918The death of Arthur Clinton Zellers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Zellers, who reside north of this city, died at St. John’s hospital in Springfield, Monday October 28, 1918 at 2:30 o’clock from pneumonia following an attack of influenza.
Arthur Clinton Zellers was born July 23, 1883. He was married on June 1, 1908 to Miss Amanda Herrin, Rev. C. F. M’Known officiating.
Deceased resided nearly all his life in Menard County, most of the time in Athens. About three years ago he moved to Springfield where he resided until his death October 28, 1918, aged 35 years 3 months and 15 days.He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and son Herrin Eugene, aged 8 years, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Zellers, one brother, Edwin and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Barnes, all of Athens and a host of friends.
Early in life he was baptized in the Christian church. He was a member of Local Union No. 3495 U.M.W. of A., at Shelbytown.Private funeral services were held from the porch at the home of his parents, Wednesday morning, October 30 at 10 o’clock, Rev. C. F. M’Known officiating. A committee of the Local Union at Shelbytown acted as pall bearers.
Interment was made in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.[Minnie (Pitts) Zellers, mother of the above Arthur Clinton died July 14, 1928]. See her obit on page 177.
