From native democratic stock, a splendid family, Ezra A. Cox is descended. He is one in a family of fifteen children. He is the son of Jackson and Rheulina (Bunch) Cox, and was born near Oxville, Scott county, Illinois, August 9, 1874. In the same neighborhood his father, Jackson Cox, was born, August 3, 1843. His parents were married August 8, 1867. Our subject worked about the farm and grew to manhood in that neighborhood. He was educated at Campbell Hollow, a country school, and later took the finishing touches in a course covering a year and a half, at Bushnell, Illinois. By occupation he is a school teacher.
November 29, 1896, at Detroit, Pike county, Illinois, Ezra A. Cox was married to Miss Millie L. McKinney, daughter of John and Euphama (Baird) McKinney. Mrs. Cox is a native of Scott County, Illinois, and was born near Oxville.
Mr. Cox has prospered as he has traveled and at present owns nice residence property in Winchester. From 1897 to 1902 he was a resident of Winchester, and, with the exception of the year and a half spent at Bushnell, the remainder of his life has been spent on the farm. In every way he has proven himself worthy of the public confidence he enjoys, and is deservedly classed among the energetic young educators of Scott county.
