It has been nearly fifty-seven years since H. H. Finnigsmier first beheld the light of day. He was born in 1844, and the lady of his choice, whom he married in 1869, was born in 1850. Until 1881 he lived on a farm in Indiana and labored hard to put by something for a rainy day. In that year, however, they moved to Morgan county, Illinois and in 1893 they came to Scott county and settled near Oxville, where they still live. They were blessed with eight children, five boys and three girls, seven of whom are now living. Two of the sons are married and live on the home farm. Since coming to Scott county Mr. Finnigsmier has gone quietly about his business; attended strictly to his own affairs, and is known among his neighbors and by the general public as a safe and conservative gentleman, one of whom it will do to pin your faith.
