NIMROD FUNK.
[Deceased]

Near Exeter, July 10, 1846, Nimrod Funk was born, and the years of his life have been spent there. His education was received in the country school, and his training was in hard work about the farm. At the age of eighteen, in December, 1864, he enlisted as a private in Company D, 154th Illinois Volunteer infantry, and served until the close of the war, in April, 1865.

In September, 1867, he was married to Miss Rosa B. Mills, and two children - Rosa, now Mrs. Justin Leib; and Carl - were born. Mr. Funk is a successful farmer and started in life with nothing at his command. He first purchased a seventy-acre farm and worked that for a number of years, adding to it, little by little, and now owns about 120 acres of as good land as you can well find in Scott county. Politically, Mr. Funk is a republican and in 1895 was nominated and elected to the office of county commissioner. He filled the office and discharged its duties in a very satisfactory manner. He is quite popular with his neighbors up in the north end of the county and is deserving of all the good things that are said about him. He owns a comfortable home and in his duties as a farmer he takes a deep interest and finds a greater pleasure there than would be possible for him to enjoy at any other occupation.
