HERMAN HOBROCK

In the neighborhood of Oxville, on a farm, lives Herman Hobrock. He is an adopted son of this country and has resided in the Oxville neighborhood since 1887. He was born in the Province of Hanover, Germany, June 8, 1842, and is one of the four children of Christian and Mary Hobrock. In October, 1859, the family came to the United States, landing at New Orleans and came almost directly to Cass county, Illinois, and settled in the vicinity of Beardstown. Here they lived and the family was reared.

In 1865 Herman Hobrock left his father's home and set out in the world for himself. He went to Meredosia, Morgan county, and near that place commenced farming. The next year, 1866, he was married to Miss Eliza Krems, daughter of Casper and Elizabeth Krems. She was born at Beardstown, July 26, 1847. To them nine children have been born. Three died in infancy and the six remaining are: Henry C., now married to Miss Louisa Marsh; Fritz E., who is married to Miss Lizzie Doubbel; Carrie M., who married Fritz Kilver; Annie E., Emma M., and Willie C.

In the years of his residence in Scott county Herman Hobrock has won the confidence of his neighbors and the respect of the people. He has proven himself a good neighbor and friend and an industrious and energetic farmer. He enjoys life in Scott county and is ever the same accommodating, courteous gentleman.
