TIMOTHY B. LYONS

Representative young men, children of honest Irish parentage, are to be found in many places in Scott county. They make good business men, splendid citizens, and prominent among them may be mentioned Timothy B. Lyons, the present deputy sheriff of Scott county. He is a native of this county and was born about four miles west of Winchester, December 10, 1886. He is the fifth child in the family of nine born to Martin and Ann (Woods) Lyons. His father was born in Ireland and came to the United States at an early day.

His mother was also born in Ireland and early in life came to this country. They were married at Middletown, Connecticut, in 1857. Seven of the nine children are now living. Martin Lyons died January 2, 1879. Timothy was educated in the country school in his neighborhood and has spent his life on the farm. He has proven himself an honest, capable young man, and a democrat, and in recognition of his real worth and merit, Sheriff E. N. Gillham appointed him as his chief deputy when he was inducted into office in December, 1902. He is one of the bright, energetic young men of the county and is rapidly making a name and a reputation in the official world.

He is a young man of excellent habits; is a consistent member of the Catholic church, is a member of the Court of Honor, a bachelor, and worthy of whatever good there may be in life.
