Out on the Phillips' Ferry road, about two miles west of Riggston, lives William Redshaw. He was born on a farm near Exeter, in Scott county, Illinois, October 21, 1867. His father was a native of England and come to Illinois in an early day. His mother was a native of Kentucky Mr. Redshaw is one of a family of nine children, six of whom are yet living, and he was given all the advantages of a common school education. He grew to manhood in the neighborhood of his birth and the dull monotony of his early life was relieved by good hard work, and plenty of it.
March 31, 1897, he was united in marriage with Miss Clara B. Smithson, daughter of T.B. Smithson, a native of Illinois. To Mr. and Mrs. Redshaw two sons have been born - Russell Smithson Redshaw, born May 12, 1899, and William Floyd Redshaw, born September 14, 1900.
Mr. Redshaw has resided in the one place ever since his marriage. He has so conducted himself - so treated his neighbors - that he has the respect and good will of all. He is a good farmer and knows how to manage so as to get the best possible results. He is a hard-working, honest man and is deserving of a full share of the good things of life.
