R.O. RENNER, son of John C. and Mahala Renner, was born on a farm in Scott county, October 6, 1857. He is a son of good, honest parentage. He was early taught the lessons of thrift and economy. He also acquired a knowledge of the real worth of a dollar. His entire life has been spent within a radius of ten miles of Winchester. At present he is engaged in farming and stock raising and lives six miles west of Winchester. His father John C. Renner, was born in the District of Columbia in 1831, and came to Scott county, Illinois in 1841. His mother was a native of Indiana, and died in this county in 1896. His father is still living and makes his home with he and his brother upon their farm.
J.S. RENNER, was born one-half mile north of Glasgow, June 9, 1862, and he, too, has spent his life within a little world of which Winchester has been the center. December 20, 1884, he was married to Miss Mary E. Jackson, and is today the proud parent of five children. They are: Robert Watson, Myrtle, Clayton, Elda Mahala and Ollie. He has for the past seventeen years lived with his brother, R.O., on the farm, six miles from Winchester.
There are few better farmers or stockmen in the county than the Renner Boys. They were brought up in the business and thoroughly understand it every inch of the way and have made a decided success of it. They are staunch democrats and in every campaign, local, state or national, manifest a keen interest. They have never sought office but have given their best labor to further the cause of their friends. They are sterlingly honest and straightforward young men and hold in their hands today the full fruition of a few years of patient toil.
