Of Southern ancestry Cyrus Porterfield Reynolds was born at Winchester, Scott county, Illinois, November 9, 1858. His father, Archibald Reynolds, was born in Kentucky, in 1802, and came to Scott county, Illinois, in the fall of 1845. His occupation was that of a carpenter and teamster. Cyrus P. Reynolds' mother was Miss Louisa J. King. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John King, and was born in Sumner county, Tennessee, January 11, 1822, and came with her parents to Illinois in 1832. Archibald and Louisa J. (King) Reynolds were the parents of four children.
Cyrus was educated in reared in Winchester, and is by occupation a painter and paper hanger. He is a contractor in this line, is a fine workman and has a splendid business. December 22, 1881, he was married to Miss Amy Ann Barrow of White Hall. She was born, March 1, 1856, and died, November 23, 1894. Of this union two children were born Muriel D., born December 17, 1887, who is dead; and Clarence A., born October 4, 1882, who is yet living. December 14, 1897, Mr. Reynolds was married to Miss Dollie E. Smith. She is a Virginian; is the daughter of Wilford V. and Adaline (Hatcher) Smith, and was born November 12, 1868. Her parents were married in 1860 and moved to Illinois in 1879. Mr. And Mrs. Reynolds are the parents of three children, two sons and one daughter. They are: Joseph E., born October 15, 1898; Ralph S., born December 9, 1899; and Mary L., born June 13, 1901.
As before stated Mr. Reynolds is a painter and paper hanger and finds his time pretty well occupied. He is known by everybody in Winchester and of that city is a respected citizen.
