Years and years ago Jonathan Richardson and his wife, Jane (Pashby) Richardson lived at Scalby, Yorkshire, England, and it was there that the subject of our sketch, William Richardson, was born, January 25, 1828. His father was born at Silphia, Yorkshire, England, and was married to Jane Pashby, daughter of William and Sarah (Tyson) Pashby, in 1825. They were the parents of twelve children. William Richardson was educated and grew to manhood in that little English town, and in 1852 came to Morgan county, Illinois, settling near Lynnville. His parents came a few years later.
May 17, 1855, Mr. Richardson was married in Scott county, to Miss Elizabeth (Robinson) Dean. To them eight children were born, six of whom are living; they are: A.R. and Ida J. of Point Pleasant; G.W., J.F., Ella May and Jessie of Riggston. Mrs. Richardson died February 22, 1886.
Mr. Richardson is one of the good farmers in the neighborhood of Riggston and has lived at his present place of abode for twenty-six years. He owns 158 acres of good land up there and knows how to get the best possible results from its use. As a friend and a neighbor he is all that you could ask, and is reckoned among the people in that community as an honest, upright citizen, fully deserving of whatever good there may be in life.
