The subject of this sketch was born in Scott county, Illinois, December 7, 1850, on the farm now owned by John Wilson, in section 28, township 13, range 12. In November, 1872, he was married to Miss Martha A. Kellogg. To this union was born four children - Jesse Mc., born February 26, 1874; William W., born July 26, 1875; Della G., born December 29, 1882; Alfred Leonard, born June 23, 1889. His eldest son, Jesse, died April 24, 1893. Mr. Wishon lived in Scott county until September, 1881, when he moved to northern Texas and lived there about a year and a half, and then moved to the Chocktaw Nation, Indian Territory, where he resided about six months. He next located in Vernon county, Missouri, where he lived for some months, and then moved to the southeastern part of Kansas, remaining there about a year. From Kansas he moved to Lynn county, Missouri, where he resided seven months, and then located in Schuyler county, Illinois, where he engaged in farming for a year and a half and then came back to Scott county in the spring of 1887. He has continued to live here ever since, settling on the present farm. As a farmer and stock raiser Mr. Wishon has been quite successful, having accumulated sufficient of this world's goods to live comfortably the rest of his days.
