GEORGE W. WOODALL

This gentleman is the second of nine children born to John and Ann (Hall) Woodall. He was born in Yorkshire, England, November 5, 1857. His father was born February 23, 1833, and his mother was born in May, 1834. In 1869 his father came to the United States, and directly to Scott county, Illinois, - the family followed in 1870. George W. Woodall was educated partly in England, but received the finishing touches of his education here. He worked on a farm until 1892, when he went to Jacksonville and commenced work in the carshops.

While working in Jacksonville he was married, at Chapin, to Miss Mary E. Paris, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Asa Paris of Jacksonville. To them five children have been born. One is dead and the four living are: Robert, Mildred, John and Fred.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Woodall farmed for three years in Morgan county and settled on the old Robert Woodall homestead, southeast of Winchester. A little later he moved to Manchester and Mr. Woodall was engaged in the lumber, implement and hardware business there for ten years. He sold that out and came back to Winchester and is at present dealing in live stock, trading a little in land and looking after his farms. Mr. Woodall is a democrat and gentleman, but has never held office of any consequence and doesn't care much about it. He is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and is daily practicing the beautiful principles of faith, love and truth.
