|I am the daughter of the matriarch and eldest living relative of Larkin Rutherford (William Larkin Rutherford, Sr.) who was one of the five original American Settlers in what later became our great state of Illinois. She was born in Lebanon, Illinois (St. Clair County) July 5, 1913 and will celebrate her 91st birthday in a couple of weeks. She married my father in Waterloo, Illinois January 14, 1932. She had no idea of her heritage or anything about her 3rd great grandfather until I started working on her genealogy. I new he settled in Bellefontaine and lost his first three wives, Nancy Ogle, Margaret Peggy Hamilton, and Marianne Davis there. Have no idea where they were buried. He removed to Shiloh some time after an altercation with Rev. James Lemon 1809 and joined with his former father-in-law, Joseph Ogle in the formation of the Shiloh Methodist Church. His children and their offspring located in Ridge Prairie. Most of the family is buried in the Shiloh Cemetery and College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. There are still Rutherford kin residing in Lebanon, Illinois who are offspring of Larkins line. I have heard that Larkin's Name is on a plaque in the City Hall and I have been wondering if this is true.|

I am looking for information on
SCHMIDT, MAGGIE or
Margaret Schmidt came to Monroe County from Germany about 1881 with her
three children Maggie, Katie, and Casper. Her brother, who owned a farm
supposedly payed their passage to America. I think his last name was
HERBST. Within five years Margaret Schmidt had died (1886). She died
in the home of Peter FRIERDICH. The children were separated. Maggie
Schmidt supposedly went to live with a FRANK family, who were relatives.
She was marred in 1888 to William CROWDER. Within two years she was a
widow (with two children) and I think moved from the area. From death
certificates I know both Margaret Schmidt and William Crowder are buried
in Miles Cemetery. I believe they each lived in the Merrimac
Point/Moredock Precinct area.
I am especially interested in who the relatives of Maggie were. She is
my paternal grandmother. I am not a Crowder grandchild. My grandfather
was a later husband, John Weber, from St Louis.
I would appreciate any information and will be happy to pay postage.

CHARLES (son) - m AUGUSTA HESSE 10-23-1879 - Monroe Co

I found them on the Federal Census of 1880 and 1900 in Monroe Co, New Design Pct.
On the 1900 Census I can't read the names other than Charles and Rosina; I can make out that they immigrated in 1855 from Germany.

I want to thank everyone who responded
to my inquiry regarding the Kissel
family. I'm excited to say I have identified my family photo's. I have been
in contact with a descendant of the Kissel family who has identified the
individuals, plus has given me a lot more on my Kissel / Theobald
connection. A special thank you to "Rich". This would still be my "brick
wall" without help from the list.
I believe I was the one who
responded to an inquiry on the EBEL name in
Monroe County, IL. I recognized it as the name of the name of the person my
ancestor married in the 1880's. Amalia/Emilie Kempf married Philip Ebel. Philip may
have been a son or grandson of your Ebel. Janet McLain Jllynjam@aol.com
