Research Policy

All membership of the Massac County Genealogical Society will be asked a minimum charge of $5.00 per surname to be searched as long as it does not exceed 5 names.

All non-membership will be charged $10.00 per surname to be researched as look as it does not exceed 5 names. (AS TIME PERMITS)

All postage and photocopies will be additional. Please send upfront $1.00 to cover postage and handling. Most photocopies are $.50. When we are charged more, we pass that cost along to the research submitter with an explanation.

Payment is required in advance and notification will be made if more is required for photocopies or postage.

Trips to cemeteries or outside our local Metropolis area will be done for an additional charge of $3.00 per person s name. (AS TIME PERMITS and ONLY if there is someone available to do the search. Notification will be made if unable to make a search outside our local area.)

There will be an additional charge of $5.00 for all certified copies required. (This is the fee for certified documents from the courthouse)(As the price changes from the courthouse, so will our price go up or down)

Please organize your information clearly and indicate specifically the information you are seeking. (Names, Dates, and whether you are seeking births, deaths, marriages, etc.)

All Pedigree/Ancestor Charts and information gathered will be placed in a file/folder for future use. A surname file will be arranged and other researchers interested in the same surname may contact you personally, unless we are notified that you do not wish your name and address given out.

Make checks or money orders payable to Massac County Genealogical Society or MCGS. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH. When you make your request, we need your complete address, including zip code, and phone number.

ALL RESEARCH WILL BE DONE BY VOLUNTEERS, AS TIME PERMITS!!!
