At her home in Rockvale Township. Dec. 25, Christmas Day, Mrs. Lydia J. Page, aged 64 years and 7 months.
Mrs. Page took a heavy cold which terminated in acute bronchitis and after an illness of nine days passed away. Her sufferings were very severe at first but her physician thought she would recover as she seemed to gradually improve and the day before she died appeared better than at any time before but at 1 oclock began to fail and soon sank into a stupor from which she never rallied.
Mrs. Page was born in Delaware Co., Ohio, June 2, 1820, her maiden name was Lydia J. Wells. She came to Illinois with her parents in the fall of 1836 and was united in marriage to Robert E. Page in July of 1837 with whom she lived happily until his death three years ago.
Mrs. Page was the mother of nine children, five sons and four daughters; four of them had passed on before her, one son, a soldier, likes sleeping on the banks of the Appomattox River in Va. Two sons and three daughters still live to mourn the irreparable loss of mother.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. H. Cartwright of Oregon and was laid by the side of her beloved husband and children in the Brooklyn Cemetery.
Mrs. Page was noted for her generous hospitality and kind sympathy for the sick, but
Her hands are folded now, at rest.
Her work on earth is done.
