Pike County Illinois Online Genealogical Projects

Pike County was formed on January 31, 1821 and its current county boundaries which total 849 square miles were established by 1825. Pike County is named for Pike County, Kentucky which in turn was named for Zebulon Montgomery Pike (1779-1813), a general of the War of 1812, an explorer of the Louisiana Purchase and the discoverer of Pikes Peak in Colorado.
