Pittsfield, Illinois, February 24, 1900, Mrs. Charlotte Westlake, aged 79 years, died in Pittsfield yesterday. She had resided near Pittsfield most of her lifeime, and was one of the best-known women in Pike County. (Submitted by Judi A. Gilker)
Gertrude Jane Winningham Pressey, wife of Charles William "Cooney" Pressey. Born -between 1897-1900, daughter of Albert C. and Sarah Ellen Penelton Winningham, in Naples, Scott County, Illinois. Died - December 7, 1927, in Hardin, Calhoun County, Illinois. Burial - Blue River Cememtery, Detroit, Pike County, Illinois. Gertrude died from injuries sustained from the family home being on fire. Trying to save her minor children, her clothes caught on fire. Gertrude's husband, was the owner and operator of the ferry in Hardin, Calhoun County, Illinois, and away at work at the time of the accident. (Submitted by Rhonda (Pressey) Miller
ROCKPORT WOMAN DIES
Mrs. Aminda Sanderson Passes Away at the Home of Her Daughter
Rockport, Illinois, April 4, Many of our people were sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Aminda SANDERSON, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. O. MARSH, in Louisiana, on Sunday morning. Mrs. SANDERSON had spent the greater part of her four score years in Summer Hill and was much loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Summer Hill and a zealous worker until weakened by age. The remains will be taken to that church where the funeral will be held. Interment will be in the family lot in the Summer Hill Cemetery.
