MARRIAGE RECORDS PROJECT

One of the most successful projects that ISGS has undertaken. It is a cooperative project with the Illinois State Archives to transcribe and create a master index of marriages in every county of Illinois. This project is ongoing and data entry is not complete. The "Progress Report" should be consulted to determine the status of data entry for a particular county. Currently, data entry is complete through 1900 for many of the 92 counties entered into the database. There are still several counties for which no marriages have been entered. In addition to continuing our efforts to obtain material on these missing counties, efforts are under way to enter marriages past 1900 through at least 1925. Check back often as new records are uploaded to the database on a daily basis.
